How is your approach different from traditional talk therapy?
While talking can be helpful, many people I work with come to me after realizing that insight alone hasn’t been enough to shift the patterns they’re stuck in. My approach goes deeper — incorporating the body, the nervous system, and the parts of you that have learned to protect, perform, or disconnect in order to survive.
I integrate somatic (body-based) therapy, EMDR, Internal Family Systems (IFS), Intuitive Eating, and Interpersonal Neurobiology into our work together. These aren’t “techniques” layered on top of talk therapy — they’re woven into a whole-person process that invites you to experience change in real time, not just talk about it.
This work helps you understand your internal world, regulate your nervous system, and connect with yourself in ways that are healing, not overwhelming. We focus on gentle shifts, not forced progress. Real change happens when we slow down and learn to listen to your body, your parts, and your story — with curiosity, not judgment.
Can these approaches work virtually?
Yes — absolutely. All of the modalities I use can be adapted for virtual therapy, and many clients find doing this work from home creates a greater sense of comfort and safety.
Whether we’re working with the body through Somatic Experiencing, using bilateral stimulation for EMDR, exploring parts with IFS, or gently reconnecting with food and body cues through Intuitive Eating, we’ll adapt everything to fit your environment. I’ll guide you in grounding, resourcing, and staying within your window of tolerance, whether you’re meeting with me online or in person.
Is teletherapy secure?
Yes. I use a HIPAA-compliant, HITRUST-certified platform that protects your privacy. Through the Client Portal, you’ll be able to complete paperwork, securely message me, update billing info, and attend sessions — all in one place.

What can I expect from the first session?
Our first session is a gentle beginning — a chance to get to know each other, talk about what’s bringing you in, and explore your goals for therapy. There’s no pressure to dive into anything before you’re ready. We’ll go at your pace and begin building the foundation for a safe, collaborative relationship.
Do you accept insurance?
I’m in-network with select insurance plans in both Kansas and Maryland, and also offer out-of-network services. If I’m not in-network with your plan, I can provide a superbill for you to submit to your insurance for possible reimbursement. All billing and documentation is handled securely through the Client Portal.

Do you offer in-person sessions?
Yes. I offer in-person sessions for clients in Kansas and provide virtual therapy for clients located in both Kansas and Maryland. You’re welcome to choose the format that feels most supportive for your needs.
What can I do to get the most out of therapy sessions?
Great question — and the fact that you’re asking already says a lot about your intentionality.
Therapy isn’t about “doing it right” — but there are a few things that can help you get the most out of the process:
-
Come as you are. You don’t have to be polished, prepared, or emotionally “together.” Just showing up is enough.
-
Stay curious. Healing isn’t always linear, and it often brings up unexpected things. Try to meet what comes up with openness, even when it’s uncomfortable.
-
Notice what happens between sessions. Sometimes the most meaningful insights show up in the days between — in your body, your relationships, your reactions. We can work with all of it.
-
Advocate for your needs. This is your space. If something feels off, unclear, or even deeply impactful — name it. That’s part of the healing.
-
Give yourself time. Real change tends to be slow, quiet, and layered. Trust your pace. You’re not behind.
